In August 2017 the IEA provided feedback to the Board and the State Department of Education for topics to include as they developed the survey. Those potential survey topics included safety, facilities, access to resources, and testing. The IEA believes the goal of the survey should be to gain a picture of the school from a student perspective which cannot be acquired from other data measures.
The IEA did not see the chosen survey questions prior to their release to the public on September 27th. The State Board and State Department of Education emphasized “at the end of the year, we will be able to evaluate the questions and the overall administration of the survey with the intention of making any necessary improvements.”
The State Board assured IEA the survey can and should be evaluated and modified each year to ensure it is providing the intended data. Please share your constructive feedback and concerns with us so we can emphasize those concerns as we continue to meet with both the State Board and State Department.
